Christina + Marco... Married! Los Fresnos, Texas

I have anxiously been waiting to share the last wedding of 2011 with you... It has taken me 4 hours to put together tonight's blog post, yikes! It probably does not help that my little eyes have been glued to the television for most of that time but there was also so many favorite images for me to choose from.

Christina and Marco's November nuptials had been scheduled on my calendar since earlier this May. After first meeting Christina and being hired as her wedding photographer, I anxiously looked forward to her wedding date. Why? A few multiple reasons... First, she seemed like the ideal bride for my style of photography. She liked my style and knew my work prior to meeting with me. Second, she and Marco were planning an amazing wedding full of details. Third, and finally, she was getting married at the Inn at Chachalaca Bend in Los Fresnos, Texas... a place I had heard about but never seen in person.

Uh, yeah - I was very excited for their wedding!!!

This wedding was also my very first wedding working with the couple and a professional wedding planner. Ladies and gentlemen, future brides and grooms, I highly recommend you think about having a wedding planner and/or day-off coordinator... it made my job way easier. Throughout the period prior to their wedding and, of course, during their actual wedding date, having someone other than the bride to turn to for a constant influx of information is a real plus. Ha! Okay, so I felt almost spoiled... can you imagine the bride and groom?

More on this wedding... Christina and Marco have quickly climbed the list of my favorite people to photograph. They were an absolute pleasure to work for and to photograph. As I have previously mentioned when I shared with you their engagement sessions, they are head over heels in love with one another. They way they look at each other is inspiring. They inherently remind me that true love does exist and every princess gets her fairytale.

As Yva and I looked over their images a while back, we couldn't help but notice how much Christina and Marco looked at each other throughout their wedding day. Their looks, their glances were full of romanticism on such a demure and intricate level. I'd say imagine it, but it's better if you see for yourself...

Seriously, this woman could not get her eyes off her man! Christina and Marco, so in love :)

Christina and Marco, thank you! Thank you and thank you! I am delighted to have shared in your wedding day as your photographer. I had such an amazing time documenting such a special event. I congratulate you both on your marriage and wish you every happiness on this earth and beyond. Wahoo!! You're married!

Few tidbits from this wedding:
  1. This wedding wrapped up my 2011 Wedding Season, yay! Very much a great wedding to end a great season. Can I get a big wahoooooooooooo!!!?!!! :)
  2. I accidentally ran a red light on the way home from this wedding... I am so, so sorry! It was so late, dark and my brain saw the lonely road with a red light imaginarily turn green. Oopsie :(
  3. I was really sick half way through this wedding. Actually, throughout the ceremony I was sure I could not make it to the end of the reception. Thankfully, I did.
  4. Because I was so ill towards the end of the night, I could not get out of bed the following day. Now, I am used to this because after every wedding my body feels like it's turned OFF, literally unplugged. I melted into my mattress and did not get up once. Until the next day and even then I couldn't walk for two weeks comfortably... I wear heels for weddings! Umm... I'm short... I need to be at some-what of eye level for my clients ;) ha!
  5. I love my job. Obvious, but I just thought I'd re-iterate.

Good night!

The Wolfpack - Donna, Texas

Umm,  I have the craziest dogs - ever.

I'll confess it's really late at night and I am seriously contemplating staying up until morning only so I can cook up bacon and have it for breakfast. I did not get much food today so I am feeling quite hungry right about now. Bacon... I can almost smell the bacon cooking.

As I lay here on my bed reading and working on a few things, I can't help but giggle at my chihuahuas who, in Particular Luna, keep making faces of Won't you please go to sleep already? I'm tired and you are keeping me up. I feel bad. Then I think they are so quirky and funny. And I remember some hilarious photos I took of them last month.

Thought I'd share and make you laugh...

In case you need one more chuckle... Luna in beast mode.  You'd think she's in the new Twilight movie. :)

My dogs - I love them. They comfort me and always provide a good laugh. They are incredible little critters.

Six more hours until I can eat bacon... good night! :)

Mom + Dad... Donna, Texas

Nothing can break a family bond. Nothing.

My family would not be where it is today if it weren't for two very special people... my parents. Of many things they have taught me, they teach me every day to move forward, to challenge all the obstacles and to keep reaching for something better.

I photographed my parents back in the last weeks of October on a spontaneous and random Sunday. For a while I had thought about setting up a little shoot and looking for two models to portray a couple in love. I had so many things from a wedding that didn't get to be and really wanted to see what my mind dreamt up looked like in real life. I am not a fan of staged shoots... I like real and candid moments. Perhaps this is why it took me forever to actually do this. The best part, however, is that I realized I could just use my parents as the couple.

Here's the even better part --> my parents do not have a single photo from their wedding day! Yikes! Can you imagine the horror I felt to find this out. Their wedding photographer never gave them their pictures after their wedding day. Total bummer... especially for a wedding photographer! So then it dawned on me, using my parents would be oh-so-beneficial...

One, I would not have to search for models. Two, my parents are in love and could express real emotion. Third, and most importantly, we can finally, f-i-n-a-l-l-y have wedding portraits of our parents. I thought it was a genius idea ;)

This session literally took 15 minutes as the sun was setting. Ugh, we were definitely on a time crunch. I think it took me longer to comb my mom's hair than she actually spent in front of the camera. But the results, they are priceless. These images mean so much to me and my brothers. Truly they have become instant heirlooms.

Photographing my parents was effortless. They were so nervous in front of the camera but very attentive to the direction I gave them. Come to think of it, I didn't even give them that much direction. I simply observed them through my lens and saw them behave like newlyweds. It was quite adorable watching them. Looking through the images, it feels like they are just recently married... I can see the emotions all over their expressions, mannerisms and body language.

In most situations, a mother cries when her daughters tries on a wedding dress. I cried when I saw my mom dressed in the wedding gown. Words cannot express the joy I felt in my heart when i saw her dressed. I can only imagine if she were in my shoes. The birdcage veil she wore was a gift from the antique shop owner where I purchased the gown. It's dainty, feminine and full of character. It's very worn but very beautiful. If you look closely, you can see the places where it's almost falling apart. I think it gives the veil character ;) And my dad, my dad's agreement to let me photograph him with mom came with a condition... I had to let him wear his new white suit recently purchased. Umm... dad fails to realize he's no Miami vice... hahah! I cringed at the thought but I agreed. I could not have been more happier with his choice. I think having the both of them in white is lovely and my dad looks quite dapper in his suit. Great choice.

Yva and I incorporated three things into the session: things I already had, a vintage wedding dress I had purchased earlier this year, and items from my parent's wedding. The rest is pure love.

This is the cake topper and utensils from their real wedding way back when.... Love!

I would be a very different person if it were not for these two people. Mom and dad, I love you. I love you very much. We, your children, are so proud of everything you have accomplished and of the family you have raised.

Love,
Marisol, Michael, AJ and Brandon :)

*******Thank you to my three brothers for coming along and helping out. My three strong brothers helped in loading and unloading. They also enjoyed seeing mom and dad as a couple... in wedding attire expressing their love. And thank you to my assistant Yva who helped set up and made it all look pretty.

Make it a great week friends!

Portraits... The Velazquez Girls - McAllen, Texas

These have to be three of the cutest and easiest kiddos I have had the pleasure of photographing this year. The Velazquez girls are beautiful, timid and very much the pros at having their portrait taken.

During their session they were so attentive and well-behaved. They took direction well and were very cooperative. Most importantly, they were super cute. Their smiles and giggles were infectious and made my job so easy.

Marisela, thank you for allowing me to photograph your beautiful girls. They are beautiful and kind. Be blessed!

Good day friends!
