I began my venture into photography with the push of my sorority sisters. I knew, way back when, that joining a sorority would be beneficial, in some form or another. Back in the day, I swore to my parents that the investment would be worthwhile. I was sure that at least one of the admissions personnel at any of the law schools I applied to would eventually have to be a Delta Zeta Alumnae and would draw a star right next to my name. "She'll read through my essay and application and realize we are sisters…" Oh the silly things I would say to my parents.
Much to my delight, I rushed, joined and graduated as a Delta Zeta and made truly lasting friendships with women I call my sisters. While I chickened out on law school at the last moment, my sorority sisters did help my career. In fact, I can almost say they jumpstarted it for me.
Candace was the first to hire me as her wedding photographer after taking some pictures of her on the campus yard when she graduated. And many soon followed, and boy am I thankful.
I remember photographing Vanessa as she was getting ready to graduate with her Bachelor's. Through out her session, and definitely afterwards, she swore she was going to hire me someday for her wedding. No pressure on John, years later they became engaged.
And I was hired.
It was truly special for me to have Vanessa ask me to be her wedding photographer. Regardless, I prepared for my meeting with her and John and was ready to impress.
Photographing them for their engagement pictures was effortlessly easy. Vanessa chose the beautiful Quinta Mazatlan in McAllen and the day was absolutely a good one to be outdoors. John and Vanessa have dated for many years now and are planning a beautiful wedding to celebrate their marriage. I am so excited to share in that celebration.
Congratulations to you both!
I am so honored to be a Delta Zeta, sisterhood has always helped me. Thank you Vanessa and John!
