My husband and I welcomed our third child in the beginning of March and were back home from the hospital when I received the inquiry for a lovely south Texas wedding. I was so excited to hear from Marisa all the lovely details she was incorporating into her wedding. After being married in a romantically intimate ceremony in Tulum, Mexico just a few weeks prior, they were hosting a Texas celebration for a larger side of her family to attend. Lucky for me, I was available on their date and immediately jumped at the idea of photographing such a cool and lovely couple.
I had never met Marisa before their April 30th celebration but our constant email communication made it so easy to feel like I had already met her in person before. I suppose it is pretty neat to photograph an actress' wedding as well, huh? Yes, yes it is. Marisa's attention to detail for this wedding was clearly evident throughout the most tiniest of details. It was beautiful executed with the assistance of her husband, family, and the amazing coordination of her wedding planner and team.
After being pregnant the latter part of 2015 and just birthing our recent baby in March, the deep south Texas heat in April was a great way to commence my 2016 wedding season. It was HOT!
Marisa and Daane, thank you for trusting me to document your Texas celebration. It was truly special to witness and I felt so at ease with such a kind couple and sweet, loving guests. The ceremony included a beautiful tradition I had never witnessed before, a blanket ceremony. Honoring her Native American roots, Marisa and Daane treated their guests to not only their vows during a blessing ceremony, but also to a lovely blanket ceremony in which both the bride and groom were "covered" together under one beautiful artisan blanket from Tulum. The dinnerware was eco-friendly and recycable down to the cutlery. Artisan cheeses and breads along with a deep-colored sangria were available during cocktail hour. For dinner the guests were treated to one of my personal Rio Grande Valley's favorite, Palenque Grill. This was one wedding where I totally would have asked for seconds!
Thank you Marisa for the opportunity to work with you. Thank you for being so kind and sweet. It has been a pleasure to get to know you. May the Lord bless you and Daane with a long and beautiful marriage full of peace, health, and love.
